Last week people in the Southern States were devastated by terrible storms that ripped through several cities. People lost their homes, belongings and even their lives. The storm just barely missed my family and our home, but it is so hard for me to rejoice when so many are suffering and have lost so much.

Now is the time when they need help the most, so I would like put out a call to arms to all you couponers out there with stockpiles.

We are able to stock up on items for mere pennies on the dollar, so if you can put together a box of items for the disaster victims I know it will be of great help.

I’m working with my local Church to receive items to be distributed directly out to those in need. I know it can be very difficult for many of us when we feel like we can’t help right away. Well this is a way that you can help out right away!

Here are some items to consider adding into a box:
  • Non-perishable foods
  • Snack Foods
  • Can Openers
  • Water
  • Baby Supplies: Diapers, Wipes, Formula, Juices, Baby Food, etc..
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Soap/Body Wash
  • Deodorant
  • Sunscreen and Bug Spray
  • Over the Counter Medications like Tylenol and Motrin
  • Soaps and other Cleaning Supplies
  • Trash Bags
  • Paper Towels
  • First Aid Kits
  • Hand Tools, Gloves, Yard Tools, Construction Materials, Ropes, Tarps, Bungee Cords
  • Towels
  • Blankets
  • Pet Supplies
And anything that you would be willing to send that you that you think would help!

You can mail your items to Hope Church at this address:
Storm Relief
c/o Hope Church
1970 Marietta Hwy.
Dallas,  GA   30157

If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can do so on their website: PlaceOfHope.org Be sure to mention that it is for Storm Relief.

You can also help the victims in Alabama: Kristin from Couponing to Disney has set up an online donation drive on her website here.

Please help if you can by sending much needed items. And if you know of others that can help out, please let them know about this. The faster word spreads, the sooner we can get help for these people. And please, keep all the tornado victims in your prayers.

Thanks for posting this Thrifty Mama!
